Revival on the market of distribution of electrotechnical goods. The President of TIM is a cautious optimist

Distributors of electrotechnical products expect that, along with the increased investments in construction industry, the situation of the entire industry is to improve, as reported “Rzeczpospolita” and “Parkiet”. Krzysztof Folta, the President of the Management Board of TIM SA, however, is cooling those emotions.

As “Parkiet” and “Rzeczpospolita” read today: “After the last year’s investment slowdown, since March 2017, the domestic construction and assembly production has been growing. In May, the increase reached 8.4 percent compared to May 2016. This is a positive sign for electrotechnical wholesalers that are fighting for a market worth even PLN 8 billion. ” Andrzej Jurczak, the president of Grodno warehouse chain, talks in the text about the rebound felt since March and declares to be quite optimistic: “We expect 2017 to be significantly better for the industry.”

Krzysztof Folta, the President of the Management Board of TIM SA, in his statement for “Rzeczpospolita” and “Parkiet” is more cautious: “Investments are actually moving and that is good news. But the electricity industry will be revived not earlier than in a few months. We do not know yet how the introduction of the so-called reverse VAT in construction will affect the financial liquidity of contractors. We also see pressure on wages, which will affect the condition of companies. ”

Barbara Oksińska, the author of the article, emphasizes that TIM – thanks to its change of the operational model and thus the closedown of the warehouse chain as well as due to focusing on online sales – has been growing faster than other distributors of electrotechnics for a long time, becoming independent from the economic situation in the construction industry.
